TCL Group and The Painting & Decorating Association attend a Medical Detection Dogs demonstration day
Steve Purdy (TCL Group Managing Director) together with Neil Ogilvie (Chief Executive of the Painting & Decorating Association) attended a recent demonstration day held by Medical Detection Dogs in Milton Keynes to help highlight the ground breaking training and research currently being undertaken in the fight against cancer and long term illness.
The charity was founded in 2008 with two aims:
Medical Detection Dogs
Medical Alert Assistance Dogs
Medical Detection Dogs are trained to detect the odour of cancer. Their highly sensitive noses are capable of picking up the smell of cancer volatiles in urine or breath samples.
Medical Alert Assistance Dogs assist individuals who manage complex medical conditions, such as diabetes, on a day-to-day basis. The dogs are taught to identify the odour changes that are associated with certain medical events, such as a drop in blood sugar level.

“It was incredible how the dogs were able to detect the odour of human disease highlighting the need for what could easily be lifesaving treatment. We often refer to dogs as ‘man’s best friend’ and, having seen the dogs working with the team in Milton Keynes, they really are and I am pleased that Neil and I were able to see them in action and that both the PDA and TCL are able to provide support for this worthy charity”
